I want Pageau suspended for intent…

«Даллас» играючи проскочил «Вегас» благодаря голам Радулова и Гурьянова в овертаймах, а «Тампа» предсказуемо была сильнее «Айлендерс» [Читать дальше]

Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images Tampa Bay is back in the Stanley Cup Final, folks. The Tampa Bay Lightning are going to the Stanley Cup Final. Sorry, I had to type that first and stare at it for a few moments. It has been five years since the Lightning organization played for the ultimate prize in hockey (16 years since they won it), and this time they’re hoping it ends on the right note. In 2015, when the Lightning defeated the New York Rangers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final, captain Steven Stamkos chose not to touch the… [Читать дальше]

Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports Good morning, Eastern Conference Champion fans. The NHL has it’s worst-case TV ratings scenario handed to it on a platter: an entirely southern Stanley Cup Final. We hope to prove them wrong, however, and show them exactly how strong Southern hockey fandom can be. After the Tampa Bay Lightning won a 2-1 match in overtime in game six off an Anthony Cirelli goal, they are GOING TO THE CUP FINAL to meet the Dallas Stars. Here is the schedule. Tampa ended higher in seeding, and so is the defacto “home team” for bubble playoffs. Please note… [Читать дальше]

Fanatics Can you believe it? In this topsy-turvey 2019-20 the Tampa Bay Lightning are going to the Stanley Cup Final! They opened things up by slogging their way past the defensive-minded Columbus Blue Jackets. Then it was the neo-rival Boston Bruins and their “Perfection Line”. Finally, the upstart New York Islanders presented a new challenge with their opportunistic and sometimes violent style of play. Through it all, the Lightning stuck with their game plan and let their best players be their best players. Led by the dynamic offense of Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, they proved that skill + will… [Читать дальше]

Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t pretty, but it was effective. Why win in regulation when you can win in regulation? The Tampa Bay Lightning once again prevailed in bonus hockey as Anthony Cirelli, felled earlier in the game with a knee-to-knee hit, slid a puck past Semyon Varlamov to give the Lightning a 2-1 victory, their sixth overtime win of the playoffs. Oh yeah, with the win the Lightning move on to the Stanley Cup Final where they will face the Dallas Stars. First Period Brayden Point returned to the line-up replacing Carter Verhaeghe. That… [Читать дальше]

Photo by Andy Devlin/NHLI via Getty Images Anthony Cirelli scores in overtime to advance the Lightning to their third Stanley Cup Final He was knocked down earlier in the game by an inadvertent knee. He’s struggled to find his offense all playoffs long. That doesn’t matter as Anthony Cirelli tucked a puck past Semyon Varlamov in overtime to send the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Stanley Cup Final to face the Dallas Stars. Woo-hoo! Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images Let’s get **it done. Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Islanders: ROUND 3, GAME 6 Time: 8:00 pm Eastern Time Location: Rogers Place Broadcast/Streaming: NBC, SN, TVA-S, FuboTV Opponent SBNation Site: Lighthouse Hockey Preview: Well, that wasn’t the result we were hoping for in Game 5, but the good news is the Lightning get another crack at eliminating the Islanders tonight, and hopefully they’re able to finish off the series. While Brayden Point’s absence was definitely not the reason the Lightning lost Game 5, it is concerning that the team’s two losses in this series… [Читать дальше]

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports Eastern Conference Game Sixes have not been kind to the Lightning It’s game day! The Tampa Bay Lightning have another shot at ending the New York Islanders season and, oh yeah, advance to the Stanley Cup Final. This isn’t the first time the Lightning have been in a Game Six in the Eastern Conference Final, in fact, today’s game marks the sixth time they’ve been in this position. It’s also the fifth time they’ve had a 3-2 lead in the ECF. The previous results have not been pretty. Let’s roll down memory lane and take a… [Читать дальше]

Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images Cirelli, Johnson, and Killron have been better at driving play this series, but woefully inadequate in production. Sometimes the better team doesn’t win. That was the case last night as the Tampa Bay Lightning failed to close out the New York Islanders in Game 5 Tuesday night. Some will point to the resiliency of the Islanders in avoiding elimination. Others will direct their attention to the Lightning not having that killer instinct. Neither of these are correct. With their best player absent for the second game of the series, and facing a team that had… [Читать дальше]

Lightning survive and advance to the Stanley Cup Final in another marathon squeaker. TB-2 NYI-1 (OT) Tampa Bay Wins the Series 4-2 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 1 goal on 27 shots for the victory. His one goal allowed was a bit of a horrible overplay on the Toews wraparound goal and I had a horrible feeling in my gut the adage about soft goals being the margin might come true again tonight. He redeemed himself several times tonight, none more prominent than a shorthanded breakaway by Brock Nelson after he picked Tyler Johnson's pocket. (Naturally, NBCSN proceeded to spend the next… [Читать дальше]

Lightning fan on chance to eliminate the Islanders. NYI-2 TB-1 (2OT) Tampa Bay Leads the Series 3-2 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 2 goals on 24 shots for the loss. Made one immense stop on a short Barzal breakaway in the first OT. Deserved more goal support than he got tonight. First Period 15:41 NYI Pulock (2), (Leddy, Barzal)(PP) Second Period 4:00 TB Hedman (8), (Coleman, Schenn) Third Period NO SCORING Overtime NO SCORING Second Overtime 12:30 NYI Eberle (5), (Lee) Victor Hedman was the game's third star. Top line puts the Lightning on the brink of advancing to the Stanley Cup Final. TB-4 NYI-1 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 1 goal on 27 shots for the win. Tough game for Vasilevskiy mentally because he had exactly squat to do for 30 minutes and then suddenly the game went into overdrive and he had to make several key situational saves. First Period NO SCORING Second Period 11:27 NYI Nelson (9), (Bailey) 11:42 TB Coleman (4), (Gourde, Vasilevskiy) 11:54 TB Palat (8), (Kucherov, Point) Third Period 3:33 TB Point (9), (Palat, Kucherov) 17:36 TB Maroon (1), (Gourde, Paquette)(EN) Brayden Point, Ondrej… [Читать дальше]

Lightning let the Islanders slip the noose. TB-3 NYI-5 Tampa Bay Leads the Series 2-1 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 4 goals on 35 shots for the loss. Bum luck on the first goal where his pad strap came undone and he was out there having to play basically on one leg. He probably wants the Beauvillier goal back that snuck under his arm, but I can't get too mad given the coverage bust there. First Period 12:58 NYI Clutterbuck (Pulock, Martin) 16:31 TB Sergachev (2), (Gourde) Second Period 11:50 NYI Pelech (1), (Pageau, Barzal) 13:50 NYI Beauvillier (9), (Nelson, Toews) Third… [Читать дальше]

Mine eyes have seen the glory... NYI-1 TB-2 Tampa Bay Leads the Series 2-0 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 1 goal on 28 shots for the victory. Timely saves upon timely situational saves in a tight 1-1 contest giving his undermanned team the time to manufacture an amazing victory. First Period 1:24 NYI Martin (5), (Leddy) 18:25 TB Hedman (7), (Goodrow) Second Period NO SCORING Third Period 19:51 TB Kucherov (6), (McDonagh) Vasilevskiy, Nikita Kucherov, and Victor Hedman were the game's three stars. Lightning construct a snowman over the burned out remains of the Islanders goaltending corps(e). NYI-2 TB-8 Tampa Bay Leads the Series 1-0 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 2 goals on 25 shots for the victory. Made his situational saves especially later in the First Period and then drank from a cool mountain stream named goal support. In the deep waters of double OT, Victor Hedman finally drowned the Boston Bruins. BOS-2 TB-3 (2OT) Tampa Bay Wins the Series 4-1 Andrei Vasilevkiy allowed 2 goals on 47 shots for the victory. The difference between this being a short series and this being a razor thin difficult series was goaltending. We'll never know how Boston would've fared with Rask between the pipes, but Vasilevskiy ultimately was the difference maker in Game Four and Game Five that put this series on ice. First Period NO SCORING Second Period 4:21 TB Palat (5), (Shattenkirk, Coleman) 12:38 BOS Pastrnak (3), (Krejci,… [Читать дальше]

Opportunistic Lightning keep their foot on Boston's throat. TB-3 BOS-1 Tampa Bay Leads the Series 3-1 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 1 goal on 30 shots in the game. He was the difference in the contest, in my opinion. He held off Boston's surge in the Second Period long enough for Palat to get the second goal and the power play goal on the Ritchie major penalty and that was all she wrote. The biggest gap in this series has been between Halak's quality and Vasilevskiy's. First Period 8:59 TB Palat (3), (Point) Second Period 12:29 TB Palat (4), (Cirelli, Kucherov) 18:04… [Читать дальше]

Lightning power play springs to life as Lightning seize control in the series. TB-7 BOS-1 Tampa Bay Leads the Series 2-1 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 1 goal on 24 shots for the win. Lightning remain Overtime warriors to even razor thin series. BOS-3 TB-4 (OT) Series Tied 1-1 Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed 3 goals on 25 shots for the win. I would argue to you he had the first goal pinned under his knee and their should've been a whistle before Ritchie pitchforked his pad, but I digress.
